Student council votes were rigged. What do I do?

Okay, so me and a friend were running for president and vp of student council. My speech was very funny, and a lot of people said they voted for me. My friend who also ran kinda made of another student who was buying the competition. Again, a lot of people said they voted for him. When the results came in, two people who help out alot but had bad speeches won. Then, someone who helped tally the votes said that me and my friend got the most votes, but the teacher rigged it. Both of us were in student council last year and have very high grades. Does the teacher have a right to do that? How should I handle this?
