I took Mucinex DM and it made my lungs hurt more than they were before is this ok?

its been a not so great cough for about a week and my throat has been hurting but i went and got Mucinex DM last night and took one when I got home but I coughed the same amount if not more throughout the night and when i woke up my chest/lungs hurt more than they had before. Should I keep taking it?
