Is Queen Victoria actually dead in this picture?

She is looking pretty dead to me. It is an strange practice to photo the dead, but I think back in the day it was pretty widely accepted. I'm from an Italian American family and I can remember my mother telling me stories of family members taking photos at a wake of the deceased. Back in the 40's/50's. Odd, huh?
