Can I receive paid fmla from my job?

I have a hernia. I've had it for about 2 years and just couldn't aford to get it fixed, but now I am at a new job where i can afford it and I've been here for a year. I am scheduled at the end of this month to have sergury to have it fixed. My doctor says I may have to be out of work for two weeks. Am I able to tak fmla and get paid for it even though I didnt get the hernia at this job?
